'Cuore Verde’ is
located in the municipality of Spello, village of ancient
origins, situated on the downward slopes of the Subasio
Mountain, on a small crag facing the plain of the Umbrian
valley.
Numerous are the events that animate the town during the
year – testimonial of the people’s connection
to traditions. The most famous event is “L’Infiorata”
(floral compositions) of the Corpus Domini that has its
roots in ancient times. In the marvelous frame of the
medieval town of Spello, it is possible to admire the
charming scenery that is offered by the roads and alleys
covered by floral setups that reproduce figurations and
ornamental liturgical patterns. The compositions are very
carefully prepared for weeks, though only the evening
and the night previous to the “festa” they
are arranged as floral carpets, whose scent and unraveling
colors create a very suggestive show. To keep in mind:
August (second half of the month), “Incontri per
le strade” – event with a tradition of twenty-years
that promotes exhibitions of painting and sculpture of
international artists; has craftsmen shops opening in
the historical center; shows and performances; concerts
and theme film festivals. Sidelong to this manifestation,
a festival of performances and shows is held at Villa
Fidelia – long-awaited event from a wide public.
In the same period, another event takes place –
“Cultura Altra”, with cultural representations
of nations of the third world. During December then, “Natale
a Spello” (Christmas in Spello) has exhibitions
of cribs.
