Cuore Verde's
organic farm is located in very interesting area for flora
and fauna.
Villa 'I Vallaroni' stands on the slope of Monticchio's
hill near Spello: the area of 180.000 mq is completely
fenced. Is intended to be a wildlife reserve, for the
purpose of restocking. Therefore the area is very rich
of hares, hoopoes, turtledoves, blakbirds, pheasants,
and a lot of other local birds. Very often looking the
top of 'Monticchio' it's possible to see the regal flight
of the buzzard. The 'Monticchio' is a constant discovery
concerning flora: it goes from the orchid to the broom;
from the holm-oak to the honey-suckle, and many other
species.
Walking through the tracks you can see the different vegetations
zones, and the sights are fantastic. There is a rare spot
of Mediterranean wood: oak, holms oak, junipers and of
course strawberry tree. This is the proof of the vast
richness of biotypes of this territory.
We are now preparing with the collaboration of Prof. Puppi,
from the university of Rome 'La Sapienza': a map of all
the paths through the 'Monticchio' to classify all the
flora: name and description of plants and their flowers,
period of developing phases. All this in a uncontaminated
habitat where organic agriculture has been practise for
many years. The protection of the natural environment
is guaranteed.
