ORGANIC FARM 'CUORE VERDE'

The organic farm Cuore Verde has been always very sensitive to the health and the protection of the environment problems. In the i976 when started was already distinguished from the others for the attention and caution in the used of chemical. Such way brought the farm to be one of the first in the area to practise organic agriculture for the purpose producing healthy and genuine food. That was at the end of the eighties. Fallowing the Umbrian tradition diet, beside usual productions of fodder, cereal, olives, grapes took a new course towards a vast range of pulses. Together with the well know beans (Borlotto, Cannellino) and chickpeas, the farm steer itself to the cultivation of Umbrian central Italy variety, the ecotype of Castelluccio (Norcia) for lentils, Cocco Bianco and Risina for the beans. Such a choice to safeguard the survival of ancient local rustic they have not been selected to maximize the harvest and but they are very rich in flavour and taste therefore suitable for organic agriculture. At the present the 85 hectares of Cuore Verde's farm is totally organic.
